I am taking this opportunity to tell you that my website has a new name.
Thanks to Google and Yahoo, who have decided that domains must be paid for, verified and authenticated, or emails might go into spam, I’ve had to purchase a domain from WordPress.
Authenticating it is another problem, that I’ll not go into here!
Anyway, my new name is:
Aspholessaria.co.uk

Congrats on the new name. It’s amazing the hoops we have to jump through now and then. Good for you for getting it done without a glitch. 🙂

Got the name easily enough, but glitches galore in the rest of the process.

Oh, Ugh. I haven’t changed anything on my blog (willingly) in 12 years. I just know it would be a disaster!

One of the problems is that the people publishing ‘help’ stuff assume a certain knowledge of programming, or is it now called ‘coding’? Anyway, on occasion I’ve been told to add a bit of code to something, but no help as to where, or how to get to the code it’s to be added to. So, apart from the upgrade, I’ve done nothing with my website, either.
My email list hasn’t grown in years. I had only about 34 on it. And I had no indication that it had any impact on sales. So, with the all the difficulties, I sent a newsletter giving all my contact details and got rid of it. One less thing to do.

I’m the same way. I need instructions for the instructions! And I just got rid of my newsletter too. I wasn’t sending any, and admitted to myself that I never would.

I did read one book that said it’s not necessary, but everyone else seems to think it’s essential. I don’t.

What does this new name mean?

Aspholessaria is the name of the elf priestess in my Wolves of Vimar series. She is more commonly known as Asphodel, you will be pleased to hear.

Oh Gosh will I have to do this too?

Only if you have a mailing list. It’s to do with Google etc trying to cut down on spam. You need a paid domain, verified and authenticated with your email provider, then the search engines know it’s you and not a spammer sending out countless emails.
If you don’t have a newsletter, it’s no problem. If you do, your email provider should have notified you about it.

I don’t think it will be duplicated. It’s quite a mouthful. Does it have some special significance?

Good. Glad you now understand. Although you’re the only person who has queried it, strangely. BTW. It’s pronounced Ass-fol-ess-AR-ia.

Well, I know how hard it can be to come up with a good name, so I did wonder. Hope you had a happy Valentine’s Day.
