I’m glad Morgan put it out there. Here in the US, its been obvious (for half of us) for a decade. Trump uses the same rhetoric, the same threats, the same tactics. And 72 million American drank it up. It’s disgusting, Viv.
As a kid, I used to wonder how average German citizens could support Hitler and go along with his atrocities. Now I know.

It’s scary how easy it is for such people to sway others to their way of thinking. I think, in the UK, anyway, that education is partly to blame. That might sound an odd thing to say, but here, education seems to no longer be about thinking for oneself but following what you are told to do.
When I was teaching, the English department gave marked projects back to the kids with instructions like, ‘Do this or say this and you’ll get a better grade.’ Basically telling them to follow instructions. Against the rules, of course. We in the science department told them that once handed in, that was it. ๐

Our problem here is all the lying on the news (Fox news in particularly). It’s all propaganda and people believe it, no question. That is a very Nazi -like tactic.

Sad how people swallow it up, but also how they must have had similar thoughts to be easily taken in.

Misinformation has been insidiously cultivated over the past two decades at least. I know intelligent people who are completely brainwashed because they NEVER hear the truth from the “news.”

I watch a French news programme called France 24. It’s an international programme put out in several languages. They claim they always check the authenticity of every item they broadcast. A pity every news programme doesn’t do it. But then, they’d have to be impartial, wouldn’t they?
The BBC is supposed to be impartial, but I’m not entirely sure they are these days.

Iโve also thought about this exact comparison. The difference is that Hitler did think he had the interests of the German people as a whole at heart. Trump seems to be acting for the 1% elite.

Very true. Making more for those who don’t need it!
