I’m taking a break.

It”s the first of July, and here in the UK, and in Europe as a whole, we’re having some scorching days.

I’ve decided to take a little break from blogging for this month. I will, however, still read and comment on your posts.

So, to give you something to go on with, here’s today’s poem from my poetry book, From July to December. There is one poem to read each day of these six months. Book 1 is also available. It’s called From January to June.

It’s deep into peach season, so I wrote this in honour of that delicious fruit.

Peaches

A peach with skin so soft.
Breathe in the sweet scent
As to my nose it wafts
Made just to tempt.

Bite into the flesh.
That scent did not lie.
The flavour so fresh
That I cannot deny.

Juice runs down my chin.
The peach is so sweet.
It must be a sin
To enjoy such a treat.

  1. It’s not quite Peach season here, but I look forward to it. Nothing like a perfectly ripe local Peach. 🙂

Have a wonderful break, Viv. I’m taking most of the summer and it’s lovely to step away and just enjoy the days. Hope the heat abates a bit though. Happy July.

    1. We’re off to South Wales for a family holiday on 11th. Fingers crossed for the weather. The last holiday we had in Wales, the WiFi was a bit hit and miss. And when we get back, we’ve a friend coming to stay for a couple of days, so I won’t have much time for writing.

      1. Enjoy your time in south Wales, Vivienne. I studied history and politics at Swansea University in the early 190’s, so know the Mumbles and Oyster Mouth bay quite well. I think not being online can be quite healthy, at least for a while.

        1. I know the area a little, having camped on the Gower many long years ago. We were also there a couple of years ago.
Two of my school friend went to Swansea University, too. Before your time, though!
